Access to the Quiberon peninsula hangs by a thread. The isthmus of Penthièvre, known as the tombolo, measures just over 22 meters at its narrowest point! Enjoy the unique view of Quiberon Bay on one side, and the Atlantic Ocean and Fort Penthièvre on the other.
To the west of the Quiberon peninsula, the Côte Sauvage stretches some ten kilometers from the village of Portivy to Saint-Pierre Quiberon to the Château Turpault in Quiberon.
Erosion shapes this granite coastline with the passing seasons. Steep cliffs, wild coves, arches carved out by the waves... Constantly whipped up by the winds and the sea, the Côte Sauvage offers an invigorating spectacle.

The isthmus of Penthièvre links the mainland to the Presqu'île and offers an exceptional panorama, with the Bay of Quiberon on one side and the Atlantic Ocean and its stretches of beaches on the other. The contrast between the calm of the isthmus' beaches and the rugged atmosphere of the cliffs is striking.
Côte Sauvage: cliffs, dunes and green expanses
Dominated by the remains of a customs post, the Pointe du Percho offers an exceptional view of this breathtaking natural setting. Below, don't miss the sumptuous Port-Blanc arch. Known as the "pierced rock", you can admire it at low tide. At sunset, the arch is sublimated when the evening light shines through. A permanent natural spectacle that's a perfect way to get back to basics!
Continue your walk along the Côte Sauvage, and take the time to stop off at the beautiful spots of Port Bara and Port Rhu. But be careful, as the coast remains... wild! Even in calm weather, the currents on the few beaches of the Côte Sauvage can be dangerous due to the swell. Respect the bathing bans to enjoy the beauty of nature with peace of mind!
As you reach the southern tip of the Quiberon peninsula, the dunes perched on the cliffs reveal a natural lawn dotted with small pink flowers such as carnations and armerie maritime. Once at Château Turpault, admire the splendid view and Belle-Ile-en-Mer in the distance.

Stroll along the 8 km of footpaths, and recharge your batteries in the midst of nature, facing the often powerful, always impressive sea. By bike, take the voie verte along the Côte Sauvage to Quiberon.
